Meet the independent authors behind our reading, and see what their evidence can actually support.
Original research 21 September 2026
ReworkKit is an editorial reference for soldering, hot-air rework and repair-oriented power supplies. Our launch notes bring together published tests and repair records. We have not performed the measurements in those sources.
A page containing a temperature range is not a thermal test. A video summary is not a verified waveform. We label those differences so a useful finding does not become a broader claim than the evidence allows.
THE SOURCE DIRECTORY
Seven independent perspectives.
Page-level references, not popularity rankings

Original webpage measurements
Gough’s Tech Zone

Temperature curves, thermal recovery and supply transients
An individual engineer’s detailed reviews. External temperature measurements, logger records and oscilloscope tests make the conditions open to scrutiny. Particularly useful for learning how to describe sensor limitations and conclusions that apply to one sample.
Read with this limit: Pages were read in the 21 September 2026 research, not freshly reverified for this build. The T90B sample was supplied by ALIENTEK; sample provision is not an income estimate. Some Weller details are on element14 pages that were access-restricted. The apparatus and years of measurement experience are substantial.

Original webpage measurements
lygte-info.dk
Independent Danish tester
Current limit, startup, shutdown, load steps and noise
A measurement-led reference with clearly illustrated power-module behaviour. The DPH3205 and DPS5020 articles show why settled voltage and maximum current are only part of a repair supply’s performance. Test conditions and traces are the main asset.
Read with this limit: Research read these pages on 21 September 2026. The reviewed modules are not a complete retail bench-supply catalogue. DPS5020 sample provision by RD and a PayPal donation route are disclosed. Replicating the method requires a defined load, suitable instruments and repeatable wiring.

Video companion website
SDG Electronics
Steve Gardner
Soldering systems, hot air, preheaters and task comparisons
A UK individual engineer and reviewer with a strong collection of soldering and rework subjects. The website connects tool reviews, teardown discussion and practical tasks with videos. It is particularly relevant to a small repair workshop’s thermal-tool decisions.
Read with this limit: The webpage summaries were read in the original research. Many primary measurements are in video; the Atten calibration timestamp was opened but a complete transcript and frame-by-frame data were not recovered. Affiliate links, sponsorship and supplied samples are disclosed. Long-term comparison stock and the author’s experience are costly to reproduce.

Video companion + teardown photographs
Voltlog
Independent electronics video blogger
Hot-air construction, replacement tips and long-term use
An electronics blog with useful teardown pictures and follow-up experience. The BST-863 articles show physical design and subsequent changes; the Hakko T12 comparison provides a specific genuine-versus-replacement test question.
Read with this limit: The website text and photographs were examined on 21 September 2026; video measurements were not fully audited. Reader comments are separate from verified author findings. Patreon, donations and affiliate links are visible, but no traffic or income has been established.
05
Community/vendor-sourced reference
atomic14 Bench Database
Chris Greening
Tip-system navigation and compatibility structure
A structured reference for tip and cartridge families, station entries and replacement-part risks. It demonstrates a useful way to organise compatibility questions and links onward to original tests and correction channels.
Read with this limit: The matrix says it is community/vendor sourced and checked in July 2026. It is not an author-tested electrical compatibility database. Affiliate links and a GitHub correction route were observed. Exact revisions, pinouts and untested combinations still require verification; ReworkKit has not tested WEP/YIHUA cross-compatibility.

Original teardown website + linked videos

Power-supply and heating-tool teardown photography
An individual engineer’s blog with detailed circuit photographs and component identification. Its value is the construction record: boards, isolation components and differences between apparently related products. Dynamic behaviour sometimes lives in a companion video.
Read with this limit: Webpage teardowns were read in the original research. Startup and overload demonstrations linked from LW-3010EC are video evidence, not webpage waveform data. Teardown photos cannot by themselves establish regulation performance or certify safety. A complete monetisation disclosure was not verified.
07
Original repair-business narratives
iPad Rehab
Jessa Jones and the iPad Rehab team
Repair decisions, current observations and rework cases
A repair and data-recovery workshop that publishes diagnostic stories, training and practical board work. Its cases connect power observations to hypotheses, thermal interventions and functional retests rather than reviewing tools in isolation.
Read with this limit: Cases were read on 21 September 2026. A single current value is not a general diagnostic threshold, and older repair narratives need critical interpretation. Repair services, training and a parts shop are visible business activities; business scale is self-reported. Reproducing the case library requires real repair work, permissions and accumulated experience.
OUR EDITORIAL STANDARD
What earns a place in a note.
The setup travels with the result.
For thermal work: tip or nozzle, probe, load, distance and timing. For power supplies: voltage, current limit, load, cable arrangement and capture settings. Missing conditions stay visible.
A sample is still a sample.
Original-author measurements, supplied review units, community compatibility records and vendor specifications remain separate kinds of evidence. We do not turn one test into a verdict on every revision.
One clear scope.
This site owns tool behaviour and repair workflows. Microscope buying, optics, lighting, working distance and image quality belong to a separate imaging reference.
SAMPLES & COMMERCIAL LINKS
The relationship should be visible.
Some original authors receive products, use affiliate links or sell repair services. Their own disclosures are part of the source record. Those arrangements are not evidence of an income figure, nor do they replace a repeatable method.
ReworkKit currently provides no checkout or affiliate sales links. Any future supplied samples, sponsorship or commission-bearing links must be identified on the relevant note.
RESEARCH BOUNDARY
What this edition does not claim.
No fresh revalidation of source pages after the original research date.
No independent WEP/YIHUA handle pinout database was fully verified.
No fully audited, cross-station hot-air airflow dataset.
No verified traffic, revenue or search-ranking estimates for these authors.
No in-house thermal curves, waveform captures or compatibility measurements.
